Installé au coeur de Paris, FIRM Studio est spécialisé dans la post production haut de gamme. Equipé en solutions d’étalonnage Baselight, DaVinci Resolve, d’un cœur de post production de montage sur base Avid Media Composer et de plusieurs stockages centralisés Avid Nexis, elle a réparti ses équipements sur 2 sites reliés en fibre Noire.

Une installation innovante mais qui laisse facilement entrevoir la complexité croissante de la gestion des données à archiver, et à sauvegarder.

Jusqu’à notre intervention, la gestion des archives et sauvegarde était effectuée sur disques durs, en 2 exemplaires. Entre l’achat régulier, depuis plusieurs années, de ce matériel de stockage auquel s’ajoute l’espace réel utilisé pour entreposer ces disques, FIRM Studio se trouvait face à une réelle question d’optimisation des coûts, associée à une volonté de réduire son empreinte carbone et de participer aux économies d’énergies qu’imposent l’actualité internationale.

Après une étude approfondie de l’infrastructure technique, des souhaits et des objectifs à moyen terme de Firm Studio, nous avons conseillé le format LTO (cartouche avec bande magnétique), réduisant l’émission de CO2 de 95% ; et les avons équipé d’une librairie de sauvegarde Quantum I3. Avec son mètre de profondeur sur trois de hauteur, elle permet de stocker en interne jusqu’à 600 To de données pour une consommation électrique incomparable à celle de disques durs, tout en optimisant l’occupation de l’espace.

Et c’est avec un simple Mac mini M1 que nous avons finalisé cette installation, en utilisant la machine comme serveur d’archive intégré dans un rack sonnet.

Pour gérer l’ensemble et assurer le pilotage de la sauvegarde de plusieurs années d’archives passées et à venir, nous avons opté pour la solution PressStore.
